Help! EVO-GMT1 4 pin datalink port is broken.

Hello,

My EVO-GMT1 keeps losing power due to poor connections at the 4 pin datalink port.  The 4 pin datalink wiring harness is fine.  It is the 4 pin datalink port of the bypass module that is mafunctioning.  I was able to power it up by wiggling the harness and was able to program the bypass.  The vehicle worked fine for a day (remote start and power locks).  Then after that, the bypass module will not power up / lost power and the vehicle cannot be remote started anymore.  It will only power up if I wiggle the harness.

I also plugged in the bypass module to my Flash Link Updater and I also had to wiggle the 4 pin harness before the module will connect to the flash-link / computer.  This confirms that the 4 pin datalink port of the bypass module is not soldered/connected properly to the circuit board.  

The distributor (TigerAutomotive) I bought it from will not take it back or replace with a new one since I have already "used" it.  Please help me resolve this issue.  This is a hardware issue and not programming / wiring issue.  So I believe I am entitled for a replacement module.

If the datalink cable is pulled too hard the plastic part surrounding the terminals can come loose. Have you tired pushing back the plastic part and reconnecting the datalink cable after ?

Yes,  I have tried that.  The black plastic part is not loose.  I will try to take a video of it to show what it is / it is not doing.  

Also,  I have an old Evo-All (hardware 4, firmware 4.02) that I just tested with the same data link harness and I had no problem powering up the Evo-all. I tried it several times and I didn't have any problems with it.  However,  when I tried the "new" EVO-GMT1 again,  I couldn't get it to power up unless I  start wiggling the harness.  

I just wish my old EVO-All was compatible with the vehicle and the T-harness...then I can just use that lol...

This is why I believe there's loose connection inside the EVO-GMT1.

Anyway,  I will try to take a video of it in the next few days.  If you have any other suggestions I can try, I'm all ears and will appreciate it.

what mathieu is saying is correct. The socket can slip out if pulled out wrong. The issue is when it's pushed back in. A little too much pressure and it pops the solder joints on the terminals :(

 

what's your vehicle? The maximum firmware available for the hardware 4 is 70.04 and it covers a good portion of the GMT1 compatible vehicles (lets say 2013 and less). If you have the Flash-Link on hand, update that hardware 4 and try it out.  Worth a shot. Just make sure to reset it after updating the firmware.

Update...Module fixed!

I didn't want to open the EVO module up as this will void the warranty but I wanted to see if the solder of the pins had popped out.  The solder was fine but I noticed that the datalink socket wasn't pushed in enough.  

The harness wasn't engaging / contacting the pins so the module wouldn't power up.  Anyway, I pushed the connector back in and that solved the problem (i hope).  I guess I'll see if I have any problems with it in the future.

Broken ? if you have the same problem you can simply push back the black plastic connector. If it is completly broken you will need another module.
Broke the solder joint and blew a fuse on the truck. Wedged it back in place but still dont work. Don't know what to do now.Just bought it.Emailed support and have yet to receive an answer to my problem.
