relay in evo-all clicks as soon as 4 pin data harness is plugged up? ignition stays on...

Hello am working on a 2012 ford fusion evo all with t harness. Stand alone mode. as soon as i plug up the red relay harness the ignition comes on and it tries to start?? i have checked all connections twice and i am sure it is correct.

I can only plug up the 4 pin data plug for power and the internal relay clicks and engages. that does not seem normal to me as the relay is always on?? the ignition is always on and will not power down, all wires are correct.

defective unit?

Are you able to program the unit using the procedure in the install guide ?

No I can't, as soon as you plug in the red plug the ignition comes on, and that messes up the programming steps. I am using a t harness, i was looking at the manual for hardwiring on the fusion and it lists diodes inline with the relay harness plug. since im using a t harness would i still have to cut into it and install diodes or are they in harness?
You dont need the red connector connected at all for programming. Just dont connect it until you are done with programming. Having options enabled pre-programming may cause this. Also if the unit was actually used on another vehicle before, it may do that.

If you have the flash-link updater, i'd recommend doing a master reset, programming the module, then going back to enable option C1 and D1 since i see thsoe are on at the moment. Don't turn on D2 and D5.

Master procedure : This will also reset all the options.

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in the datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.
