2014 Forester w/key - I cannot get by step 4 in the setup.

When I get to step 4. I question myself of what the instructions are telling me to do. Do I press the button 6 times and pause till both red and blue flash 5 times before I press again. Mine seemed to flash gradually. Flash 2 pause, Flash 3 pause, Flash 4 pause and flash 5 pause. When I get to the end it flashes red 3 times pause and keeps repeating.

The remotes don't work and I am not hooking up the hood pin.

Hello,

You want to press the programming button 6 times in a row, it shoudl be blinking 5x and pause afterwards, then you start the vehicle with the key.

Best regards.

I believe I was able to complete step 4 correctly now. I pressed the button 6 times and it flashed blue and red 5 times then paused then 5 times again and again. I started the car at various internvals and the lights changed to solid red and blue. I also reflashed the unit to be sure. Any ideas?
If you unplug the red connector from the evo one, are you able to start the vehicle with the key normally?
Yes and both redf and blue lights solid are still on.
That would indicate that there is an issue with the imo data connection then, you should not be able to start the vehicle with the red connector unplugged.
Hi there! I have the same problem when try to program my EVO ONE (SN 002B04 189989) on my Forester 2009 (automatic). I am able to start the car with the key normally when the red connector is unplugged from the EVO as well. I've check the IMO data connections many times and they are properly connected as requested by the installation guide. Any solution to this?
More than likley you are on the wrong wire if the vehicle starts with the circuit open.
I bought this car two years ago and I suspect that it has no immobiliser system in place because I couldn't find the transponder chip in my key when I replaced its battery. Would that explain why my car runs if the red connector is unplugged? I will check the wiring again though. Also, when I try to program the EVO, I manage to get it "blinking 5 time and pause" continuously until I turn the key to the ON position (before the RUN position). It's then when the EVO goes blue and red still even before I start the engine. I really need some suggestions here... I'd much appreciate it
Ive never seen one without an imo but there is a first for everything.

If the vehicle has no imo then you would program can bus only.

- Let go on blue led

- turn ignition on

- blue should flash

- turn ignition off

- blue should go out.
Thanks derek! After following your intructions I got it working nicely.
Glad that got it going!

Best regards.
