2012 Ford Fusion Evofort1 and Crimestopper rs2g3 combo programed but no start.

I programed fort1in the correct manner getting multiple red led flashes and a pause then blue flashed for data conferm but still won`t start. It will start if I have the key in the switch. When I bought the car it had only one key so I went to the Ford dealer and had another made so I have 2 keys. Is there a chance I only have a copy of the original key? As i said it semed to program corectly with the correct flashes. Do I need a Dcryptor for this to work?

You only need Dcryptor if you had 1 key, or two 2 keys that are actually the same. Technically if you got that red led to flash 10x times, the module program. No harm in trying though if you do have the flash link updater.

The blue led flash is indeed can-bus. Here's the catch, there are two can networks at the obd-II. Both networks will program. Make sure you are on the right ones. You can tell by the color of the vehicle wires.

got some questions:

  • What's the first light to turn on, on the evo when remote starting?
  • is the unlock before start feature enabled in the remote starter? if so, turn it off.
  • are you in datalink or wire-to-wire with the remote starter and the evo?

Have to check tommorow on the LED color. The unlock before start is the default on the remote start. I am data linked to the Crimestopper. My wire colors are Can high, Grey/Orange and Can low, purple/Orange. Also, to get my car starter to crank, I had to connect the starter wire from the Crimestopper to the start wire on my ignition harness even though I used the T-Harness. Not sure what was going on there, but it works as long as there is a key in the ignition. I wired everything per Fortin wire diagrahm using T-Harness w/data link.
Remove the unlock before start.
The unlock before start is off on the crimestopper remote. The LED is yellow at all times. When I try to remote start the yellow and red LEDs are lite.
Yellow is on all the time? even when no key is in the barrel?
Yes, Everything is wire per Guide #32161.
While the yellow led is on, cut the blue and white wires of the datalink connector. If the problem goes away, the issue is through datalink.

I would suggest first checking the yellow wire from the 20-pin to see if it's always getting powered. The yellow led will be on all the time if there is power on the yellow wire all the time. They are pretty much brother and sister once the install is done and programmed.
There is no power to the yellow wire. I cut both blue and white wires an the light stays on. what do the LED status lights mean? can`t find that info anywhere.
I have gotten no answer back. Are we done?

In short, once the unit is programed, the LEDs mean:

  • Red - (-)Ground-while-running On; unit on
  • Yellow - ignition on   (12V on yellow wire / ignition through datalink)
  • Blue - data (flashes = stuff is happening)

When the unit is not programmed, it's a whole other ball game and will change per vehicle make/model/year and also per sequence of programming steps.

I would suggest starting from scratch with the programming and also do a master reset on the unit.

Before programming the module, check to see if can-bus does programs on it's own. Easy to do.

  • Press and hold programming button while plugging in datalink.
  • Release when LED is blue
  • Connect remainingg connectors
  • Turn ignition ON
  • Blue led should start to flash, then yellow will turn on
  • Turn key off

If the above works, put the key in the barrel, and remote start the car. Wait at least 30 seconds, then shut down the car and remove the key from the barrel. If there is no Yellow LED after this, go ahead and reprogram the EVO following the regular programming procedure. I would suggest using the Dcryptor method if you have the Flash-Link Updater, it's a personal preference.

As Mathieu said before, make sure that the unlock before start option is not enabled in the remote starter, even if it's default on, enter programing and turn it off again. This will indeed not allow remote starting, the EVO has a certain sequence to follow on Ford disarm. Similarly, their should be no connection on the Purple/White wire of the EVO connector A.

I am installing 2010 Edge with THAR-FORT1 and auto start 1780, is not cranking as well, found this post, saved my ass! Just had to turn the "unlock before start, lock after start" option "OFF" on my Evo and now it starts and works fine. Thank you for this info.
