Remote start or stop fails from fob, but works from oem fob

0 votes
Recently installed evo-all based systems in a 2012 Infiniti M37 and a 2016 Infiniti qx50. About a week ago they both stopped remote starting with the rfk912 kit. Worked fine for a few days. The rfk remotes acknowledge the stop or start commands properly, but the car doesn't even attempt to do anything. Oem fob 3x lock starts the cars perfectly. Any ideas?

To add to this, I went in and removed the module and reflashed it. Put it back in and stil no response whatsover from the remote. Tried readding the remote to it by, holding the programming button while plugging the rf kit in, wait for the blue and red LEDs, let go of button, push in one more time until the red and blue leds came on, and turned the ignition ON. The blue LED on the rf kit's antenna started blinking quickly but the remote didn't want to register again. I assume, it's because it already is.

Please help, but my EVO-ALL modules don't work since I added these brand new RFK912 remote to them, but worked fine for a few days.

What is the S/N to the module?

Anyway to get that without hoooking up the module to the software ? Like a history or something I can access ?

for your M37 = 001A06655788

  • Turn OFF option B2
  • Turn OFF option E2

The QX doesnt use dcryptor so only way to get the number is from you. Same thing though, make sure B2 and E2 are OFF.

And just in case. The proper pairing procedure of the RFK912 to the EVO-ALL  is found in this guide: https://cdn02.fortin.ca/download/69551/rfk912-install-guide-69551.pdf

Thank you. I will try this as soon as I can.
The service # for my QX module is 001A7057633 !

The options you mentioned for the M37 module were not an issue on this one. I reprogrammed the options one more time and installed it in the car. Still no start... Went through the relearningn the immobilizer procedure (which was probably useless since it DID start from the OEM keyfob 3X lock). Still no start from the fob. As a last thing, I re-ran the procedue to learn marry the fob to the antenna/module described in the PDF above. That did it... and now it starts from the fob.

Weird that it would do that. Normally I would expect the remote NOT to come back with the green LED saying the command was executed successfully. I would expect the red led to come on and warn me that it didnt. This is the main reason I paid more than double for a two way remote. Any idea what happened here ?  I'm guessing the same thing happened on my M37. Are these remote not ready for prime time yet, being they're so new ?
Did the same remote relearn procedure on the M37 module and it works fine now. However it did hiccup on me once, after testing it a couple times. Holding down the button to shut off the engine, it confirmed the shut off with trill and red led but it didnt actually turn off the engine. Doing it one more time, actually shut off the engine. Any ideas ?
This morning the M37 remote is unresponsive again... Sigh.

Yes. If there's a t-tap on the Start/Stop connection remove it and do a good splice connection

They're all soldered. This problem only started after adding these new remotes. It doesn't make sense that both vehicles exhibit the same problem. They both use T-Harnesses. Could it be the firmware ? The 3X lock ALWAYS works.

You need 72.43 on those cars. Starting will not be consistent without it.

The remotes get confirmation from the antenna that a signal was received. So, could be a problem between antenna and evo, = cable. Or, the pairing.

Was the RF-A2A used on both those installs to connect the antenna to the EVO?

Have you tried starting over from scratch?

- Reset: https://fortin.ca/en/qa/50193/faq-how-do-i-reset-my-evo-all?show=50193#q50193

- Redo options

- Reprogram module to car

- Reprogram antenna to evo.

As far as I know, I do have that firmware on both cars. Maybe you could double check ? 001A06655788 and 001A7057633. I did use the RF-A2A kit on both, as suggested by the instructions.I could start over from scratch again, but I already did that on the QX50 module and it doesnt seem to help. It works okay for a day or two and all of the sudden the fob stops working.  You don't think that points to some type of firmware issue ? These systems work great with the older RF kits.
