Is (-) start activation wire in remote starters still required in Data mode?

In all remote starters  there is a (-) remote start  activation wire, the green one in RS3-4G or white/blue in Excalibur rs-160-edp remote starter, installer normally connect it to door lock  motor with 3x lock as an activator. Your guides never refers to it. Is it required in D2D mode wirring?.

If referring to the evo-all it is not needed. That wire when pulsed negative will start or stop the vehicle.
