Why did I get conflicting information from the techs when I called?

I have installed a Evo-one in my wifes 2013 push button Altima. When I called several times one tech said I should push the letter "o" when programming options with the Flashlink updater. The other techs said I should always use the configuration tab when programming and never use the letter "o" method. The one tech said he uses the "O" method all the time as he is an installer also. I also found the instructions about what each option did very lacking. it should be explained that one side is the Remote Starter and the other side is the by-pass. I would have saved much time if that were explained better, or at all in the instructions. Unless i just overlooked it somehow. I also had to hardwire the brake in order to prgram the rf kit i used, it would not read the brake through the can wires.

There is no difference between hitting the letter O or going to Unit Configuration -> Unit options. Both those methods lead to the same place, the OFFLINE options. Hitting O is just a short cut to the offline options. This does not affect whether you are looking at the bypass options or the remote starter options.  Accessing the offline options is also only required in order to set the type of RF-KIT being used.

 

On the bottom right corner of the Flash-Link Manager, screen it will be written either Connection Mode : Remote Starter or Connection mode : Bypass. This is what decides if you would see bypass options or remote starter options. The Toggle button right above this text, switchs between both connection modes; EVO-ONE should not be connected when swapping between bypass and remote starter modes.

The remote starter options are quickly described in the quick guide found in the box. As an avid remote starter installer, those options are pretty much common to all.

 

Where it might get confusing though (actually this will get confusing ), is that the bypass options of an EVO-ALL vs an EVO-ONE, are similar, but there will be a lot less bypass options available for the EVO-ONE (since most are not needed as the remote starter options will be doing the job just fine). You can see the difference when comparing Online vs Offline (hitting O short cut) options on the bypass side of the EVO-ONE. Basically, what you see in the online options, is actually what is available on the EVO-ONE in the bypass options. The reason you would see all bypass options available in the offline options is that there is no way for the Flash-Link Manager to differentiate if the an EVO-ONE or an EVO-ALL is connected; so if you are wanting to change options in the offline menu, you will see every single option we have available.

 

Basically,

• Bypass ONLINE options = playing around with CAN-BUS settings
• Bypass OFFLINE options = confusing, do not touch. Use only ONLINE Options Tab. (if you even need to change anything here)
• Remote Starter ONLINE options = playing around with user settings / preferances
• Remote Starter OFFLINE options = required only for setting the type of RF-KIT being used
