Brake Bypass for EVO-ONE on '08 GTI w/DSG Automatic

0 votes
Want to install on an '08 VW GTI with DSG automatic transmission. The problem is that my car requires you to hold the brake to start. No brake = no ignition. This is NOT a push-to-start and I see no regular key diagrams that account for the brake. Is there an output on the EVO-ONE for brake bypass and where does this get spliced into?

Someone may have a better answer for this, but my suggestion would be to use a relay triggered off the negative start output from the remote starter. Connect the (-) out to terminal 85, connect terminal 86 to +12V, cut the brake wire at the switch, connect terminal 30 to the vehicle side of the brake wire that was cut, connect 87a to fused 12v,  and connect terminal 87 to the switch side of the brake wire, along with your brake input from the remote start.

I see a problem on this since the remote start procedure will be cancelled when you press the brake (in this case, introducing a positive signal onto to brake wire that the EVO ONE will pick up through CAN

If anything like the Passat CC, you have to grab the start wire under the hood.  The EVO-ONE Guide for the passat CC shows you where to connect the (+)Starter output in the case you have to press the brake to start.

Obviously color and location may be different.

Thanks Robert. That harness "from firewall behind BCM" is probably what I need to tap into. I'm annoyed at the fact that this is not included in my vehicle specific install and that the description is so very vague. I'll have to wait until I have some more time to tinker some more.
in 2008, remote starter installation guides had no information at all besides for what an output of module was to be usd for and techs had to use their own knowledge as to what to connect to what.

The gti that has to push the brake to start may be rare now, so it's pretty much impossible to get one in shop so that information can be updated.
