EVO-ALL can-bus functions will not work 2009 Ford Mustang

+1 vote
Installing a Viper remote start with an EVO-ALL on a 2009 Mustang. EVO-ALL programs the CAN section just fine. The blue light on the EVO-ALL comes on during lock/unlock commands from R/S. However, I have no lock/unlock or entry status or brake status.

Hello,

What colors are the vehicles Can-Bus wires?

Are their another set of twisted wires in the OBD-II connector?

Our install guide says pins 3 and 11, but in some fords the Cans you want will actually be pins 6 and 14. The EVO will program on either since they are both Can-Bus signals, only one of those sets are the ones that offer door locks, door status etc...
Ah ha! I used pins 3 and 11 but you're right. There is another twisted pair. I'm going to try that right quick. Standby.
Reprogram only the CAN-Bus (let go on blue LED and turn ignition on) using the first part of the programming procedure. No need to redo the entire programming once wires are swapped places.
It didn't work. It programmed correctly but the same stuff does not function. Also, using the other twisted set, the car would not stay runnning when R/S. Oh, well. No other module will operate the locks/alarm/status stuff either. We just started using the EVO-ALL in our shop in place of the DB-ALL from BPK. Loving so far!

Since you're using a Viper remote start, and im assuming you're probably wanting to use D2D and not wire-to-wire connections, did you turn on the D2D datalink protocol in the EVO?

The EVO-ALL can do D2D datalink protocol but does not come with the protocol set to D2D. By default, the EVO datalink protocol is set to Fortin. To change it to D2D, you would need to update the EVO-ALL to the latest firmware for Ford, and then go into the EVO-ALL Options to change Option 21.X; you would want to turn On 21.3.

If you do not have access to a flash-link updater yet, you can always cut the blue and white wires from the datalink connector and go wire-to-wire between the EVO and remote starter in the mean while.

The option you need to change would look like this. option 21.3

As for Can connections, the White/Orange and Pink/Orange should be the ones you are looking for.

Also, here is the procedure to Master Reset the EVO-ALL. This clears previously programmed vehicles and also resets all the EVO-ALL options back to default.

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.

Remember that this also resets the EVO-ALL options, so if you do a master reset after changing any options in the EVO you will have to go back to turn the option back on.
