IDLE mode on Lexus

Question

What is a 'IDLE mode' is a optional connection on LEXS 2013 ES. What is that use for?

This is used if you want to exit the vehicle and leave it running, say running into the corner store and didnt wanna shut your vehicle down.

 

Although on some pts vehicles where take voer isnt supported, it is rather pointless IMO as the vehicle will shut down anyway when you get back to it and open the door.
