How to enable proximity unlock on 2021 Subaru Crosstrek

Question

Once the car has been remote started, I cannot unlock by the proximity unlock function of the Subaru key FOB. I can only unlock by pressing the unlock button on the Subaru FOB or by the unlock button on the remote. How can I enable proximity function?

This is normal. Under remote start the proximity does not work, you must unlock with the remote.

So there's no way to overide that? If I warm the car in winter it kind of defeats the purpose to have to fumble through my pockets with gloves on to unlock. Plus, the manual says to unlock either with car remote, Fortin remote or proximity. So it seems like it's possible. Is it just with this particular model or any model with proximity unlock?

For your specific vehicle it states on page 11 under the take over sequence to unlock the doors with either the oem remote or the remote starters remote. It does not specify proximity because it will not work.
