2004 4RUNNER REMOTE STARTS FOR FEW SECONDS THEN DIES

2004 4RUNNER EVO-ONE INSTALL

THE REMOTE STARTS THE VEHICLE BUT DIES AFTER 8SECONDS AND IT DOES THIS FOR 2X.

ALSO THE LOCK FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK; I PROBED THE A2 PURPLE WIRE AND ITS CONSTANTLY GIVING OUT A NEGATIVE SIGNAL. IS THIS NORMAL?

I DID THE RESET AND STILL DID NOT WORK

What module are you installing?

 

What is the S/N on the back of the unit?

 

Door locks are not done through data on this vehicle, you need to hard wire them.

Everything on the Guide#84901 is hard wired.

Is it normal to have a negative signal on A2 pin at all times?

How do I resolve the starting issue; where do I begin? I ran out of ideas. I tried different settings on the Tach but no difference.

Is there any way to test if I have a faulty unit?

Does the module succesfully program to the vehicle? Have you tried any different versions of firmware?

 

No it is not normal to always have ground on your door lock wire.

Yup successfully program everytime, I have the latest firmware, should I try to go back to an older one. So if my lock wire is always negative then does that mean that I might have a defective unit? I have disconnected this wire from the vehicle to check where the ground is coming from.... confirmed its from the module. How do I fix this? Can I send my module back to fortin to get tested?

Yes you could try lowering the firmware and re programming it to see how it reacts.

 

If the lock wire of the evo is always at ground, this would indicate the output has been damaged. Normally this happens due to an incorrect connection.

Ok ill try lowering the firmware; how about the ground issue is that fixable? Do you know which connection usually cause that? I removed the module from the vehicle and probed for connection between the black ground wire on the power harness and the lock pin and they are connected all the time. I don't think that's normal... thought?

A mis connection with the door lock wire would result in the output being damaged. Once an output is burnt there is no fixing it.

 

You could also try moving the ground incase the module has a bad ground and is backfeeding through anotehr circuit.

I took the module out and tested continuity between black wire on power harness and purple lock wire.... they're always connected even without supply
