2023 Mazda CX30 - Evo One with T-Harness - Push Button Start Malfunction

+1 vote
Good Day.  Need assistance with the "Push Button Start Malfunction. Have the Vehicle Inspected.".  I get this immediately after I enter the vehicle and push the start/stop button of the vehicle.  I tried multiple times and get the same results.  As soon as I press the brakes, engine stop.  It that the Evo One is not recognizing when I press the start/stop button.  The vehicle remote start (3x lock) sequence works and the lock/unlock on the OE remote works as normal.

I've installed the Evo-One multiple times (in all my vehicles, past and present).  This is the first time I am getting this.

Could it be a firmware issue?  I recall, last year, when I installed the Evo One in my 2019 Mazda CX5, I was getting a message on the display and I had to use a different firmware to correct that.

Evo One Unit (date: 05/2019) is currently on: bypass firmware 90.06 | remote starter firmware 1.26

Looking forward to your assistance.

Hello,

On this vehicle you do not press the start/stop button during take over.

Take over sequence is shown on page 11 of the guide linked below:

Best regards.

That was it! I assumed it was going to be like my other vehicle, push button for take over.

Next question...  check out the video of me testing the RS. Question, I noticed when it starts, it beeps (same beep as when you walk away when the car is running) for about 10 seconds. Is this normal? My 2019 CX5 doesn't do this.

Probably have the OEM key to close to the car.
Typically when the car is running and you step away with the key. It makes that beeping sound letting g the driver know that the car is running.

I tried the RS this morning and it didn't do it this time

Then I tried it again, now it did it.

And here's the worse part. I get to the car while it was running and it wouldn't unlock with the door handle sensor or keyfob.  You can see that it would respond to the unlock by flashing the light but does not unlock the actual car door.  I had to have kid go through the trunk.  Not good!

Is the vehicle equipped with advanced keyless entry?

What is the S/N number to the module?
Not sure what you meant by "advanced" but for the keyless entry, when you touch or pull the outside handle (driver or passenger), it will unlock the door.  It will flash the light 2x when unlocking with the handle or remote.

If you turn off the car and leave the key in the car, door will not lock.  If you walk away (with the key) while car is running, it will beep, like in the video.

Here's the information on the module.

Evo One

date: 05/2019

bypass firmware 90.06

remote starter firmware 1.26
Module looks to be set up properly.

I would suggest you call into the tech line with the vehicle and module on hand so an agent can go over the issues with you to try and find a resolution and if not to create a report.

I called and emailed support the timeline of events.  Looking forward in finding a solution.
No response to my email...

I think I figured it out though.  What "special function" does "E4 feature 1" do or have?

I noticed by having E4 off. I no longer get locked out.  Although it seems that E4 disables the advanced keyless entry.  So far for 2 days now, no unusual beeping and keyfob unlocks the door.
That is good to hear that E4 has helped solve the issue.

Leave it off for now since it allows control of the locks via remote.

Unforuntate side effect of you losing advanced keyless entry but i would think being able to actually access the car is better than not being able to.

I will go see why the email was missed, apologies for the delay.

Best regards.
What "features" does the E4 do?

Below is the email I sent support...

Dear Support,

I hope this message finds you well.

First let me start by saying that I love your Evo-One; I have been using this for several years now with all my vehicles.

On 12/09, I installed the Evo-One on my 2023 Mazda CX30, and I have been noticing several issues that I wanted to bring to your attention.

I initially reported an issue with the push-button error in the QA (https://fortin.ca/en/qa/131087/2023-Mazda-CX30---Evo-One-with-T-Harness---Push-Button-Start-Malfunction/), which I learned later was an error on my part. The takeover for this vehicle is different from my other vehicles, both past and present.

After that, I started noticing other concerns. I was advised to call support, which I did a few hours ago.

Below is the timeline of events since day one after the install up to this morning:

For your reference below is the information on my module:

Evo One

date: 05/2019

sn: 002B04 015283

bypass firmware 90.06

remote starter firmware 1.26

--------

I appreciate your attention to these matters and look forward to resolving these issues soon. Thank you for your continued support.
E4 tells the module how to react for door lock request on vehicles with advanced keyless entry. In your case please leave it off since it resolves your remote issue. As mentioned above the side affect will be no advanced keyless when remote started.

Best regards.
