I am about to install the Evo All in a 2018 Dodge Journey PTS and i'm just wondering what is the point in connecting the yellow/red(d3) and yellow/green(d1) together on the 6 red connector in the installation instructions? Is it a must or is it not necessary?

yes they must be jumped together otherwise your vehicle will shut down when you get in after its been remote started.
